Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

What do you think about making headers and footers theme-agnostic?

I argue that making headers and footers theme-agnostic (removing them from themes altogether), especially now when we have the Layout Builder with which we can layout them independently of a theme, would make Drupal theming extremely simpler and the amount of themes for Drupal will grow dramatically.

Please let me know what you think about this idea and if you support it you may want to show your support here.

[canceled]patch css for core modules

Hi. I found a flaw in the /core/modules/media/css/oembed.frame.css for embedding Youtube videos. That seems to be fixed For Drupal 8, but not Drupal 10. I also have reported this bug as Drupal core issues.

My question is how to customize css in my-custom-theme folder for the css of the core modules, so that it is secure even when core is updated with that flaw.

Thanks.

[Added] I managed to fix the problem without touching oembed.frame.css. I modified mytheme/css/components/embedded-media.css instead.

revert database updates

Hello team,

I am looking for options for database rollbacks as part of any module update, feature updates/rollback etc.  So far I see only option is to to take a sql file level backup and restore to the backup file, but wondering if are are any modules or options to handle database reverts.  Ideally wondering to integrate this part of the ci/cd deployment process (perform change, if change fails, revert, rollback etc).  Please suggest.

Assigning blocks to CSS classes causes whitescreens

Hi,

I am struggling with assigning CSS classes to page elements, as there seems to be some bug in my theme or with the drupal installation in generel.

What’s happening?

I have a custom theme based on adaptive theme. Whenever I try to assign a CSS class to let’s say a block, I do this in the theme’s settings -> extensions -> shortcodes -> Shortcode CSS Classes. I write a class to the respective block, try to save the theme settings, then get a whitescreen and when I check, the changes were not saved.

weird problems on prod server (no problems on local)

Drupal 10.2.2, PHP 8,1

I built a site in D10.2.2, everything was normal locally, but after I uploaded to the server, these started to appear:

Is there a CLI command to know what is the latest stable release of Drupal out there?

It could be a shell builtin command or a shell utility command or a Composer command or a Drush command or some combination of commands.

I just want to know what is the current latest stable version of Drupal out there so for example if today this version is 10.2.2 then the output of the CLI command will be something like:

"The latest stable version of Drupal is 10.2.2"
