While generally I have been able to update error free, this time it has gone wrong.
After updating from 6.0 to 6.13 all content appears on white, non formated (non-template) pages. Going back to the previous 6.9 version and its database gave the same error. Now I'm back again at 6.13 with white background/no template pages. There were no error messages during the database updates. All content appears to be working fine.
With every update to drupal, are you expected to just backup your sites folder and after installing the update, re-upload your sites directory and replace everything thats there?
What if the update has some updates to any files in the sites directory and you replace them with your old sites folder? Wouldn't that screw stuff up?
I just upgraded my drupal system from version 6.12 to 6.13.
In the process, I forgot to turn off the contrib modules.
However, after the upgrade, everything seemed quite normal.
Could there be some hidden problems that may occur later?
I'd like to upgrade our drupal 5.x site. I'm wondering whether it is necessary to upgrade disabled modules as well. We have a lot of disabled modules at our site so omitting them would significantly save our time..
BTW is it safe to remove the directories containing the disabled modules? I know there may be some remaining tables in the database but just having them there don't bore me.. Is there some other possible problem? BTW there are no modules to uninstall on the uninstall page..
It is not something I enjoy doing and have little experience with it.
All seemed to go ok except that many of my blocks had been moved back to Disabled and many more had 'forgotten' their configerations, eg, only visible on certain pages. I rectified it manually, but I have a lot of blocks and configerations so it was a real hassle.
Did I do something wrong and how can I avoid this in the future?
(also, is there any way besides writing it down which modules I had active before upgrading?)
