undefined functions after upgrade to 4.7b2

upgraded from 4.6.5 to 4.7b2. no problems, went swimmingly tra la. went thru the settings, added a new module (logintoboggan) -- and then the left sidebar went away. boom. and if i try to go to my home page, i get "
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: format_name() in ... phptemplate.engine on line 275"

attempts to go to other pages yield other undefined function errors

looking at my source code, i see that the left-sidebar portion of phptemplate's page.tpl.php is being left out. that would explain the lack of a left sidebar -- but why, santy claus, why?

HELP! I can't upgrade 4.6.3 on my server

Hello, if anyone can please give me advice or help I would feel a lot better. I use cPanel and currently have version 4.6.3. I haven't entered any info on it yet, so I am not worried about losing anything.(although I was running a test site for a lil while and liked it alot).I want to upgrade to the latest version. I am a newbie and have been reading how to install patches and and changing setting.php to create new databases. Some how Myphpadmin wont let me add/create databases. I am very frustrated...maybe drupal isnt right for me?

Upgrading MySQL and PHP Versions on my server. What effect on Drupal?

Hello,

I currently am running Drupal 4.6.3 and will soon upgrade to 4.6.5.

On my server, I'm currently running MySQL version 3.23.49 and PHP Version 4.3.9.

As these versions, particularly the MySQL, is rather old, I thought it is about time to upgrade to a newer MySQL and perhaps a newer PHP version, too.

So, my questions are, will upgrading to a newer version of MySQL or PHP cause any problems with my current 4.6.3 installation of Drupal?

4.6.0 to 4.6.5, official version vs simpler upgrade?

Reading the "official" docs on how to upgrade my 4.6.0 site to drupal, I see the process as this - having drupal at the root of my site in public_html:

0. backup my site
FOR NEXT in 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.6.3, 4.6.4, 4.6.5, DO
1. blow away the files in public_html
2. copy over NEXT, and then run update.php
3. update site config file
4. upload all modules and themes I've added.

This is pretty painful! Especially having to do step 4 times!

I've seen some easier upgrade instructions in the handbook, for example, from 4.6.3 to 4.6.5.

duplicate entries w/ regard to forum module on upgrade 4.6.3 to 4.7

Oh-oh... i just upgraded my drupal installation from 4.6 to 4.7

when i visit the admin/modules page, i get

Upgraded via Fantastico - Broke.

I'm an admitted fool for attempting to upgrade by clicking a button. Can anyone point me to a method to revert back so I can upgrade manually?
