Upgrading Drupal

I want to upgrade from Drupal version 4.6 to 4.7. I've watched the videocast on the upgrade and that seems to be clear.
But I've installed Drupal in my root folder of my webserver. Is it possible to install Drupal 4.7 in a new folder \drupal and connect to my (old) drupal database after the installation?

I am currently running drupal 4.6 but with all the good things in 4.7 I am looking forward to upgrading.

I have done as you should and dumped my current database and I am using that to test the upgrade path to 4.7.

Everything appears to be going smoothly except for two things...

Is it alright to use Apache 2.2.2 with Drupal 4.7? I used to work with Apache 2.0.2 but my IS person would like to upgrade Apache.
Am wondering if there are any issues with that?

Hey all,

This seems like a vague question, but I tried upgrading (the process seems so simple!) and now my browser errors out and I cannot connect to my DB to run the upgrade script. Suxor, I think i am going insane. I have gone over the username, password, etc, about a thousand and one times and there are no mistakes for sure. It's the same file! I also tried modifying the new default settings.php and arrived in the same place. When I switch back to 4.6 it's all good. What in the world could be causing this problem?

Just drop the tables for acidfree and filemanager or will that screw things up?
