Before you start

Hello,
I am considering using drupal for our organization, although I am trying to get a feel for some of the functionality that will be important to the site.
One of the most important features of the site is to get people to use the calendar and attend events. That being said, I have a question that was not obvious (to me at least) by just reading about the modules and features.

What i'm trying to do is have one centralized instance to add events to a calendar, however on certain pages I want only some events to show up and some not.

I have built up a help system using a combination of Dreamweaver and Robohelp. In DW, I take advantages of (often embedded) library items to update several help pages that contain redundant information at the same time.

For example, one of the HTML pages is a user guide that is made up of several individual pages. Thus I have a library item that updates both pages at once.

Is this possible in Drupal and how painful or easy will this be to implement and execute on?

Hi all.

I would essentially be trying to re-create a self-contained help system that was originally created using a bunch of HTML files.

One of the things I am concerned about is one of the new requirements will be to provide both French and English versions of the help. Specifically about the implementation: I am guessing I would have a menu link at the top of the site that allows a user to switch between French and English. Would this be two separate sites, or one site with 2x the nodes?

Does anyone know if it is feasible to convert an existing web site of static html/css pages to a dynamic site using drupal if many of the existing pages belong to WebRings? WebRings, if you are unfamiliar with them, are groups of related sites that are linked together by a navigation banner that is common to all the sites in each ring.

I am not familiar with php stuff and here is my question.

Under my root directory www.domainA.com with folder cgi-bin and inside this folder with files php-cgi, php4-cgi, php5-cgi, printenv and test.cgi. When I check my info.php under root directory, here are the two items captured my attention:-

register_globals is set to On
memory_limit is set to 24M

I am trying to evaluate whether or not Drupal would be a good fit for what I need.

Here are my requirements:

1. It must be 508 (accessible for the blind) compliant.

2. Blogging would be a must.

3. A way of contributing in forums.

4. A way of users to submit content (upload scripts and other files). These would have to be reviewed and then moved into the appropriate areas. This should be able to be done all on the web site. In addition, users should be able to download and rate these files.
