Feature questions

Right now I'm using Mambo to run a site and have been very annoyed with its inability to make an article belong to multiple categories. Drupal has this feature but I'm wondering if it has others like:
* Ability to use more than one template. At minimum, a different look for the homepage and for the articles. At best, a different page for each category.
* Be able to email articles to the server and have them published automatically
* Have comments with permalinks

New Discussion topic to generate email

I'm a new drupal user in the political environment. When posting a discussion topic, can we index a list of users who want to be emailed when a topic is posted to in a particular term. For example, we establish a term environmental issues in the taxonomy and point this term to an email notify list so that when new posts occur in the term, these users are notified.

Multi page submit form?

I have recently installed Drupal and have been quite pleased with its capabilities. I'm interested in creating a site that would require users to submit content over several pages. I would be asking for a fairly large amount of information from my users which is the reason for the multi page submit process.

Two questions:

PHPWebsite Migration

I really would like to switch my website from PHPWebsite (Version 8.1) to Drupol. Any tips on migrating my data? (2 years worth)

Thanks!

Newbee: Political campaign Site How to- esp e-donations / accept credit cards

Political campaigns has to be one of the hottest topics for Drupal.

So is there some guide/howto for setting up a political campaign web site?
The online/e-donation module is very important. So is security.

Also is there a reference anywhere telling which candidates used drupal?
(Very usefull in selling the idea to new candidate.)

deanspace.org helps some, but is getting old.

database.mysql and conf.php files

I am a novice mysql user, and I'm obviously new to Drupal.

Can you please help tie these two files together for me: database.mysql and conf.php?
