Drupal good for "Artist's Directory" ?

Hi,

I am planning to put together an Artists Directory that could be searched and browsed by region, artist type, etc.

I would like artists to be able to create an account on my site, and then list their profile, their portfolio, have their own blog, their calendar of events, etc. Basically, create a personalized artists page that they would maintain themselves (residing at something like: www.mywebsite.com/artist/thornomad/) with their images and text -- customizable by them, but conforming to generic template.

Would like for visitors to be able to email the artists directly from the site, leave comments about the artists work, and view both the individual artist's calendars as well as a global calendar that could be viewed also by region and field of artwork. Hope for it all to be search engine friendly, and an accessible and easy to use portal for individuals searching for artists.

I would like to include a forum feature; both a public forum (for anyone to be involved) and a registered artists forum. Furthermore, I would like to be able to distinguish between female and male artists, as that part of the project will be supported by a women's arts agency (would be nice for them to have their own forums too).

Finally, I would like the option of creating an online store in the future -- hopefully one that can be linked to the individual artists, and as a general store to be browsed.

Is Drupal right for me?

I'm looking for a CMS that will allow customers to log in to check their (real money) accounts and pay regular rental payments. Does Drupal have a module that does this? If not, could anyone suggest an alternative CMS?

Many thanks.

drupal for backend?

Hi,

I've searched a lot and I still don't know whether drupal is for me or not.

What I need is having drupal (or something else) as a backend. The frontend will be Flash.
I need something like phpMyAdmin, but user friendly and customizable.

Multi-user blogging and powerful usermanagement?

Hey there,

I have a friend that wants to set up a community site. I recommended Drupal but he has the following questions:

- He is trying to setup a facebook like (social network) where every user can operate their own blog.

- Each user must have good administrative control over their own blog.

- User management must be able to support over 10,000 users. Users should be able to create their own groups, manage them and can let other people join.

- Must have a forum.

Can drupal do all this flawlessly? Are all these features built in?

Thanks

Is Drupal right for me?

I am looking for particular features for a writing/music review community and wonder what CMS would be the most user friendly to implement the following features.

Version 4.5.x is stable enough ?

Hi!

I will build a site using Drupal CMS and I cannot decide what version to choose. I read the changelog but I still don't understand something. Is version 4.5.x stable ? Do you update this version too, or only 4.7.x ?

There are some modules that I really need, but only for version 4.5.x. That's why I am interested in using old version. And I don't know if it is a old version with many bugs or an old version stable to use on a production site ?

And another one ... exept the bugfixes and little changes, what are main differences between 4.5.x and 4.6.x ?
