I sent a post the other day, and I am not convinced I got the answer I was looking for.....
I need to make a corporate intranet.
The key to such sites is not about everybody posting stuff.........which seems to be the core of drupal, but it is more the opposite its abot control of viewing access......
I always use mambo, but Mambo cannot handle this, and neither, it would seem can the majority of opensource cms systems.
I am an ASP programmer. I need to get a website (online magazine/portal thing) up running in short time (sparetime project). Thats why I wont program it myself. The static content on the website will demand all my time, so I wont have three months to code myself even though its fun to do.
I have some simple questions, which I cannot find answers to by looking at Drupal examples.
Starting up a brand spanking new site, should I use 4.6 or go with 4.7? There are a few things that seem to be missing from 4.7 e.g. PHP Templating, how long do these things normally take to port?
I just started using WAMP Server, a fantastic OSS compilation of Apache 2.0.55, MySQL 5.0.18, and PHP 5.1.2, with phpMyAdmin, SQLLite, and a great central taskbar app to control and configure everything. It's free and easy to install on a Windows box.
I'm evaluating using Drupal for our business needs and I had some questions about the multi site deployment.
I am looking to deploy a large amount of sites (roughly 100) that will each be a sub domain of my main domain. I would like one code base so that upgrades and changes will be easy for all sites. However I need each site to be somewhat independent from each other say look and feel, but share other things such as user rights and content.
I'm wondering how easily Drupal is to develop a pure xhtml/css template? I used the demo at OpenSourceCMS.com but did not see any functions in the admin section that would allow you to see the code.
My second quesiton: Can you integrate VBulletin forum software with Drupal?
