I'm new to Drupal, just installed it last night...and I'm absolutely floored at how powerful and customizable this script is, I've worked with a lot of scripts on a lot of sites and I'm just amazed at the power of Drupal. I'm surprised I hadn't heard of Drupal earlier...the way I found it was because of the Drupal modification at vbulletin.org.
Big up to the Drupal team, your work is greatly appreciated :)
I have been reading some of the other threads around the Search Engine issue with interest. I am just about to start building a new site. It is important that all pages (such as forum threads, articles etc) can be picked up by the search engine spiders.
My current host (streamline.net) does not have mod_rewrite installed so I cannot use clean url's. Will this stop all my pages including my homepage getting listed on the search engines? Can dirty url's get listed on Google, this is the main search engine that I am worried about?
I have uploaded an image named house.jpg and I also have a blog article that contains the word 'house'. Whenever I do a search for 'house', 2 results will come out
1. a link to the blog article that contain the word 'house' and
2. a link to house.jpg in image gallery like: http://example.com/node/40
I do not want my visitors to browse my image gallery and I do not want Drupal to index my images. Can these be done. Please advise. TIA.
Hello forumers
I always come to the drupal forums because I always get really nice helpful answers. So, here I am again today :) .... this time my question is not related to drupal, but it is a more to do with other open source software be it PHP or otherwise.
