General discuss of forum module 4.7

I was curious on changes / improvements / etc with the forum from 4.6 to 4.7?
Are there any exciting modules coming down the pipe for forum?

I thought I read on one post that the search was getting upgraded? I would assume this would also influence the forum module.

Hello world

ok guys i would like to know everything you ever wanted in drupal and cant get i have knowledge of php, mysql, js, html, xml, perl, and xtml. i would like to start writing modules for drupal, and after reading all their documentation i would like to begin. the biggest thing i want to change and improve is the user system, i dont think it indepth enough. please post this you would like and i will try to include them into one large component.

Alternatives to Drupal w/smaller footprint

No need to sell me on Drupal--I'm already a convert.

However, I have an web-based entrepreneurial idea and need to build a simple proof of concept.

I'm looking for a solution that has user authentication & management, but without all the bloat.

I'm also looking for a template engine to render the output. I've used patTemplate which I like very much, but developer support has fallen off in the last year.

A co-operative economics project

I've put together a provisional site for a test project. The site isn't open yet - I want to get opinions on the suitability of Drupal for the project to begin with, and/or suggestions as to how to improve the site.

Here's the link: http://hl.afraid.org/

The idea would be an experiment in co-operative economics essentially. The project would enable people to lend, borrow and give away items and services for free. The flexinode module has proved to be excellent for defining new item types (e.g. 'Books', 'Wish-list' etc.).

redirect to user profile

Hi, questions about configuring the front page module redirecting to a user variable(uid or userid). I'd like to have the authenticated users redirected to their user profile on log in. My problem is that its a variable. So for example, the front page for anonymous users should be set to node/1 and the front page for logged in users should be user/$uid

Not, sure how to do that properly. Thanks

Paid Membership Management with granular access to content

Hi all,

Looking for a few pointers on which modules might do the trick for the following:

1. Multiple Paid Membership plans to different sets of content.

Want clients to be able to purchase one of several membership plans to site content.

Once purchased, want clients to automatically be:

A) setup on monthly recurring payments through paypal recurring payments, and

B) enabled as a member for access to a predefined set of content (visible only to members of the plan they purchased)

eg.

Plan #1: clients get access to content only available to members in plan #1.

Plan #2: clients get access to content only available to members in plan #2.

Plan #3: clients get access to all content available to members in plan #1 AND plan #2.

and so on...

Is this possible?

If recurring payments are a problem, then I can accepts payments for 6 months at a time. In which case, will need the following:

C) Expiry Management and client reminders

If the users buy semi-annual memberships, I would like something to be able to recognize that their membership has expired, and automatically prevent them from logging in again until they renew.

D) Client Reminders

Two weeks prior to expiry, would like client to receive emails every few days reminding them to renew their membership.

E) Ability to renew a membership

Allow a client to renew his membership, by repaying, but keeping the same userid he had before so he can continue to participate in forums.
