XML Taxonomies for Import?

I have been reading about Drupal's taxonomies features. As an information scientist, I like it. But, honestly, I'm not in the mood to write or develop a taxonomy for my site, when I am sure that others have done better work already. The Drupal docs talk of XML import features, so I am wondering whether anyone has a repository of Drupal XML taxonomy files that's available for downloading and tweaking?

TIA,
David

diferent content to diferent users

Hello
Is it possible to give diferent content to diferent users?

Example:
User A and User B have acess to MenuItem News, but the news that apear to User A and User B are different

Is this possible?

Page vs. Story

OK, I'm sure this has been up for discussion before, so I apologize if this is a boring re-hash to some of you (and I have tried to search for this without luck)

So.... what's the deal with Pages and Stories?
As far as I can see they're identical node types - Title & Content fields - and either can be published anywhere, listed anywhere and categorized til you burst.

Am I just missing the point here, or are there specific uses for each node type?

Changing the Image Gallery

I'd like to turn the Gallery Image page into a "personal page" for members. So that people can add bio information a resume, that sort of thing. A replacement for the Member List, the Gallery offers more of the interface that I'm looking for. A collection of user photographs in a grid. Where can I add a default page template for the image display? Basically I'd like to include the default image and a couple text areas and a few PHP snippes to pull relivant bio info.

How to know which Drupal version am I running?

I know it sounds kind of stupid, but I think it would be great to show the current drupal version installed on the admin panel. I haven't find this version value in any part of the code nor database field.

Also it would be great to have a "suggestions" section in the forum, or something like that (I haven't found it either).

Thanks everybody for this great job.

Why don't the hard questions about code ever get answered?

I don't post a lot. I spend most of my time hunting around the forums and issues for answers. In those hunts I have noticed that when a question about how Drupal works or how the core code works is asked it is like shouting into the grand canyon. No real understandable answers. I find this strange because everyone is always saying how clean the Drupal code is and how easy it is to understand. Yet when questions about the inner works of the system come up they go unanswered both on the forum and on the mailing list.
