Building a Drupal video site - need advice

I am trying to build a website that will allow users to submit video clips…and also to view the clips in the same manner as is done in Yahoo Videos and youtube.com. Users and videos would all have to be in a database so that the appropriate items in a given category are presented on screen.

Are there modules for Drupal that will help to build such a site? Better still, are there any turn-key solutions that I can modify to meet my needs in this regard? Commercially available or otherwise…I’d love to know what is out there that will minimize development time.

Request: Sortable Statistics Plug-In

I'm looking for a simple way to present and manage statistical data on a new website. The best example I can give is something like this:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/stats?statsId=3007

I need to update and maintain the database quite regularly, so user friendly back-end management would be best. Any suggestions?

Magazine - Multiblog system

Hi everyone.
I have a special school proyect, create a special online magazine.

So I'm searching for the right script to make the base of the proyect.

The structure has to be like this:
- Main portal
This will show the published articles of the magazine:
Title, Content, Media, Sources(with links), Authors(with links to their personal blog)

Drupal on Solaris

I'm thinking about installing a new drupal site on a Solaris server. I've never used Solaris before, but I should have access to a decent support team. Anyone out there have any special advice, experience they'd like to share, or words of wisdom for me?

Going from Movable Type to Drupal? Easy data transfer?

I'm currently using movable type as my blog platform. Is there a way to port my data from MT to my new Drupal site? (please say yes!)

A drupal site in no time at all

the idea is simple. I'm suggesting that you give it a go, that is try and create a site for an idea you've got in 20 minutes. Don't worry about the finer details, just get it up there as an embryo or scaffold that embodies your bright idea. And if you can, please record the effort, post it on Youtube and insert here so the rest of us can learn from your Drupal prowess.

That brings up another part of the concept. I'm hoping that we may collectively develop a rich resource of examples for newbie Drupal developers wanting to know just how to setup a new site.

OK, so by forcing us into short bursts of site creation (I'm suggesting 20 minutes for the moment) we may do a number of positive things.

1. get us over the procrastination barrier.. come on , 20 minutes , just do it, don't use perfectionism as an excuse, let it all hang out

2. release the creativity still dormant amongst the Drupal community (not that plenty of creativity hasn't already been released.. just look at Drupal itself! )

3. create a nice set of example videos/stories for less experienced drupallers

4. simply give release to yet another crazy idea that popped into my head.

5. lead to greater exposure for Drupal as a kick ass CMS

6. If we constrained it to just using Drupal 5.0 (the not yet released CVS version) we'd generate some great testing to aid debugging. Another benefit is the forced limit of having very few contributed modules available for Drupal 5.0 - keeps us to a standard set and shows what can be done just right out of the box.
