Filename value to fill in fields

I'm hoping this is possible but not sure to go about achieving it.  Is it possible to attach a file to a node and use bits of the filename to fill in fields on the node? for example customer_dept_number.txt and take the details to from the file name to fill in relevant fields.  I started playing around with rules but could only do the whole filename.

Any help would be appreciated.

hide/show exposed filters based on selected value of the first filter

D7- Rules to remove user from role on node publish

To do this I have tried the following:

- Event: updating an existing content

- condition: NOT node-unchanged published

- remove user role

The last item is my problem. There is no user reference in the data selector field, it just has site and node items and even the node items has nothing related to the node's field. It just has stuff like status, vid, uid, comments, nothing referring to the nodes field items.

"Strings to Remove" -- Why should I remove a string in path auto settings?

I have a couple content types, one is a content type specifically to post articles.

My node path will be mysite.com/article/how-to-bake

In Path Auto module, I have "Strings to remove": a, an, as, at, before, but, by, for, from, is, in, into, like, of, off, on, onto, per, since, than, the, this, that, to, up, via, with

As a result, of course, the path is corrected to mysite.com/article/how-bake

Drupal 7 - Advanced Forum Quote and Editable Reply (Frustration)

I have three questions:

1.) Why is so hard to simply have a forum using the Advanced Forum module where users have the ability to create a reply, then edit, it after they post it? I've scavenged the internet, drupal's website and this site as well and, to much frustration and exhaustion, I cannot find a solution in ANY module. Any suggestions on this?

drupal 7 username token in bulk email

Hello. I'm using rules to mail users that belong to a role and in the message textarea I used this token [user:name] aiming that will retrieve the username of the each user, so that instead of open with just "Hello" so we could have something more personalized that says "Hello Ojchris". So what is the right way to achieve this? Thanks
