Drupal 7.x

My goal is to display a dynamic banner/background contingent on the current page. Seems there should be a variable available within page.tpl.php that would identify the current page. Any suggestions? Documentation (aside from vars listed in default page.tpl.php) is sparse.

I've got a few modules that define their own custom content types in Drupal 6 with their own tables and data to boot. I want to use the Field API in Drupal 7 for these content types, but I'm not sure about how to import the data from my custom content types into the fields I will create in Drupal 7. Does anyone have any info in the best way to do this?

I'm installing Drupal 7 on the servers at NearlyFreeSpeech.net. (First time with 7, I started with 5.x years ago, used 6.x for a while, it's been about a couple years since then)

After uploading the files, changing the appropriate permissions, creating the MySQL database, I go to install.php. I go through the "choose profile" and "choose language" pages fine, then I hit this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function class_implements() in /f5/[mysitenamehere]/public/includes/file.inc on line 141

Im new to this.
I have completely reinstalled Drupal (7.x) 3 times (after erasing all the databases and files) and every time i follow the directions exactly, but i always get errors. I know i have to be doing something wrong.
The installation always seems to work as far as I can tell (apart from the error messages), because i can work on my site with Drupal...but im just curious why i get so many errors and how i can fix it.

i try to do a photo gallery with drupal
i have follow this procedure (http://www.lullabot.com/articles/photo-galleries-views-attach for D6)

and i have
- 1 content : photo
- 1 content : gallery
- each photo has a field gallery
- 1 view : view_gallery, with a parameter on the field_gallery into photo

i have manage to display the view in my menu

now i would like to be able to create a Super gallery aka a gallery of galleries

Ok, so I am on a shared hosting plan with GoDaddy and it sucks. My initial startup time on all my sites, whether I am using 6.x, 7.x, MySQL, or SQlite is anywhere between 12-35 seconds. None of them are big sites, and most average 5 visits a day. I have scoured the internet for reason for this problem, and a solution. Every hosting site I find has miles of complaints against them, all sounding the same as my experience with GoDaddy. Some say stick with shared, some say VPS. I have reached a point where I have no idea what to do.
