Custom user registration module

A requirement of a site that I am developing is that users can either register using a mobile phone or email address. If they enter a mobile number, a code is sent to their phone which they then enter to verify their account.

I am new to Drupal, but am a relatively proficient PHP programmer. I started looking at writing a module that modified the standard user module, but this looked pretty complicated and I'm not sure it is even possible.

Drupal 7 newbie question: Node Access Permissions = disabled?

I've worked in D6 for quite a while, and am just now dipping my toe into D7. I've got the basic installation working on my server and all's well; the only thing I don't understand is whether I should be bothered that admin/reports/status is telling me that Node Access Permissions are disabled. I understand that NAPs are nothing new to D7, and I've had occasion to rebuild the permissions once or twice in the past. But the new admin page calls out the disabled status explicitly, so I'm now wondering about stuff I hadn't wondered about before:

News Based on City

Hello,

I am very new to drupal and i have the following requirement. I need to develop a news website. But in home page it will have all the US cities and then if user clicks on any city then i want to populate the showtimes, news, movies and events to that perticular city in blocks and after that blocks all the content will be displayed normally. So i need city based news filtering options. So is there any modules available for this? Or can i need to build my own modules? Can any one help on this issue??

Thanks in advance

Dinesh

Drupal 7 is crashing on me

The problem started a few days ago. I cleared my cache and when the page reloaded, all my blocks and page content went missing (would not load). I was left with a blank page with nothing but my body background image and the admin toolbar. When I access a page I get the node title but that is it. I can't access anything. I restored a backup of my DB and everything was fine. Then it happened again, when I made a new image style and again right after I installed a new module.

Should I use a content type or code php from scratch

Hi All,

I've decided to switch a website I am building from one where I design everything over to drupal. I am a php developer and not too good with css etc and I love drupal (have used it before). The site I want to transfer however is very database dependant. It takes a persons collection, say electrical kits, and lets them identify which kits they have put together, which ones haven't been touched and which ones have been modded (in a nutshell anyway).
