Drupal 7.x

So I am new to Drupal.... I heard alot about Drupal. It sounds like a powerful tool... It can do everything, feed your cat, wash the dishes. man sounds great. :)

The installation went rather smoothly and I like the added testing the drupal 7 has incorporated. From there I am lost.... the hype about Drupal 7 has made a good first impression. :)

Maybe it is al hype. :(

I am not sure what to do with it now I have recovered from the first pass. I am looking for a tutorial or documentations or some kind of starting point so I can use Drupal 7. I see a lot of documents for Drupal 6 and how Drupal 7 is improved. However I am a newbie so I do not know anything about Drupal 6 and I would rather not focus on it since I installed Drupal 7.

I have many questions including:

1. How do I set up User permissions? I need a site administer, a site author, a project administer, a project user, ... and many other custom users. Basically what I want to do is create a special user who will create content and invite others to view the content. Antonymous users and bloggers to the site will not have access. I want to limit the content so only a few people can see each project that is created.

2. How do modules interact with each other? I was told you can build a site so node information can be used in different ways and displayed in many format.

Started to customize my own theme, everything worked fine. But then one morning, errors appeared under site.

So I have a block (its a dynamic display block if you're familiar with that module) on the front page of my site showcasing featured products. The block is currently in the content section and is left aligned, but I'd like it to be centered.

Is there a way to center a specific block within a region? All I need is for the ddblock to be centered on the front page. I would edit the CSS for the ddblock module, but I only need this one instance centered, the ones on other pages need to stay left aligned.

On a new Drupal 7 site, I have created a Links page that includes categorized links. The main links page is a table of all links that I've setup using Views. This table shows the URL, a link title, and the link Category. I've setup a number of categories (in a new field called field_link_cat) that the user is required to select from via drop-down menu when generating a new link entry. There would then be separate pages, laid out similarly, that would show only the links within the specified category.

I'm feeling frustrated with Drupal. Lots of ERROR messages.
I already posted some of then. Most of them when installing and saving Modules.

Now I get this when saving a new View.

Please someone help me. I bought Beginnig Drupal 7 book and I'm very eager to learn Drupal.
But all these error messages are very frustrating

I need to provide a site that many users can use. Each user will create and edit their own journal entries. These journal entries are private, not to be viewed by any other users unless they choose to share the journal entry. Individual entries could potentially be shared publicly, with the world, or just with one other person.

My main question is, is this within the scope of drupal? Once I know it is possible, I can figure out how to do it.
