Can Drupal do all this for me?

Hi all

I am looking for some advice and an honest answer to see if I should join the Drupal community.

I usually stick to Wordpress for fairly basic sites and for more complex sites, I pretty much write them myself from scratch. This is what I'm looking to move to Drupal for, especially for my next project.

I have a client (golf club) who I wrote a site for some time ago and they now want it updated. It has a number of article based pages, a discussion forum, diary page (for competitions and events), course information etc. I also wrote a CMS for the administrators to use. I would like to write the new site using Drupal but have been looking at certain aspects of the site that I would need, and that I can't find solutions for. If anyone could tell me if the following is possible and maybe point me in the general direction so I can investigate further, that would be wonderful.

The sticking points that I need:

The diary page:

Let author control how image is floated...

I'm migrating from WP, and it used to be fairly straightforward to apply a right or left float to a post image. I'm finding that this isn't really the case in Drupal. Right now, I've changed the CSS so that ALL images float left, but I really want to leave it up to the user to choose right OR left. How would I go about doing this?

Is there a module that works like LaunchRock.com? (Beta Requesting for Pre-Launch Sites)

I am about to start a website using Drupal 7.x. The website is www.faithsdefense.com and if you click that link it will take you to my domain that is being pointed to a www.launchrock.com site. All that launchrock does for me is capture email addresses and calculates how many times someone that signed up invited someone else. You can only see this on the second page after you submit an email address. Feel free to enter a fake email to see what I am talking about.

Missing theme variables after template suggestion

I implemented a template suggestion for my home page (custom type: home_page):

The Bristol Dinosaur Project

This is my first site using Drupal, based on the Marinelli theme, I'd really like to hear what experienced users and developers think/have to say about it. Thanks for looking!
