Updating Drupal 7.2 to 7.4

I need help with updating 7.2 to 7.4

I tried putting the site in maintenance mode, replacing the files with the new ones from the 7.4 archive and ran update.php. But update.php always says, that there are no updates pending and the version still is 7.2.

How do I perform that update?

Edit:
Ok, I solved it, seems that I was too stupid to correctly overwrite the files from the shell

Different header for frontpage

Hi,

I was wondering how can I have a different frontpage layout? I need something like drupal.org. A larger header for frontpage and a normal header for any other pages.

In fact, we're designing a drupal community site, that's why we are trying to keep the similar look.

PS: I know with panels we can do something like that, but I'm looking for the best way of doing this, maybe having additional css for frontpage?

is it possible to have a slideshow on the front page that displays the top three posts on my drupal 7 site?

The subject says it all - is it possible to have a slideshow on the front page that displays the top three posts on my drupal 7 site?

The site is like a blog, so it would be nice if I could get a slideshow going on on the top of my homepage, or front page as we call it in Drupal. I'm going to be using Drupal 7. Any help would be greatly appreciates, thank you ahead of time.

What media gallery is Drupal Gardens using?

Did they create their own modules or is this something like Gallery2 and LiteBox2? How can I add the same type of gallery to my Drupal 7.2 site?

Examiner.com structure and architecture?

Obviously Examiner.com is one of the Drupal showcase accounts, but it does exactly what I want to do and don't know where to start.

It comes up with a generic home page and a list of cities you can select. When you select a city you have a standardized structure and menu on the cities home page but the home page is filtered to the selected city. You can select a different city from the drop down at the top left of the page, but all the cities have the same menu and format.

Error after Core update to 7.4

After upgrade to Core 7.4, when I navigate to "Permissions" with my admin account I receive the following line of error:

Fatal error: Unsupported operand types in ...../drupal/modules/user/user.admin.inc on line 696

I did a backup before the upgrade and I compared both user.admin.inc files with WinMerge and there is no difference :( in both files line 696 are the same and post upgrade I could access the permissions without any error.

Appreciate your help!
Thanks
Chris
