Drupal 7.x

I am brand new to Drupal although versed in other formats for many years. I am building a site for a client that will need a couple additional modules and after searching the site and module listing I am still at a crossroad looking your advice.

This site is a wholesaler of guitars.

I need the ability to allow external site users the ability to "register" their specific product (guitar) with model, serial number, price, purchase location, etc...

I'm currently transferring my site from Joomla 1.6 to Drupal 7.

I tried the joomla to drupal module, but it only supports joomla 1.5

Are there any other modules/ways to export the content?

I have been using Drupal since version 5, and I am very concerned with Drupal 7s performance on shared hosting. There are numerous post on Drupal.org and elsewhere on the web where people are expressing concern about Drupal 7s performance on shared hosting. If you google Drupal 7 performance, the majority of the results lead to negative reviews of how Drupal 7 performs on shared hosting.

The clients I work with are small businesses and need to start out with shared hosting, and as their audience grows, they transition to more robust hosting options. I am talking about brochure sites, blogs, directories, portfolio sites, small communities and small e-commerce sites.

All of my potential projects are at a standstill because of this issue. It makes no sense to do a Drupal 6 implementation, if Drupal 7 is not a viable upgrade option because of poor shared hosting performance. I can only assume Drupal 8s performance on shared hosting will be even worse. I am being forced to look at other CMS options. Before Drupal 7, there was no real need to look any place else.

I have been trying to set up a second site with Drupal. I already have a site done in Drupal http://AAAA.AA Now I have another domain to work with http://BBBB.BB but only one database to work with (which already holds the information on AAAA). At the service providers end we have two directories /public_html which holds the original site and Drupal plus /BBBB_html.

I have upgraded from drupal 6 to drupal 7.
What i want to do is create a role called "demo" which can only view content but cannot create,modify or delete.

But the problem is I am unable to untick the permissions(add/delete/edit) for the demo role, because the check box itself is disabled, the checkbox gets enabled only if i untick the same permission for the role "authenticated user".

But I want my authenticated users to be able to create/delete/modify content, but not the users with the role "demo"

Hi all.

After some advice. I want to be able to pull my images from flickr into drupal, but I would like each image to be a node. I want to do this so I can then use views to manipulate them eventually using the Nivo slider plugin to display them.

Can any one suggest a flickr module that would do this and that works ideally with D7.
