Auto-Generated menu links showing up in navigation region even though there are no blocks there

So I've run into something a bit strange...it seems that Drupal or perhaps Zen or my sub-theme has decided to auto-generate a set of links (to pages on my site) in the navigation bar. What's weird is that this still shows up even when I confirm that there is nothing active in the Navigation Region on the blocks page. Similarly, there's no cog/gear that shows up on mouseover with which I can edit it. However, if I do activate the main menu block and place it in the navigation region, I get two such menus showing up in the same place (one slightly below the other).

Creating a view based on title & additional fields

I'm running drupal 7.7 with latest views build.
I've created a content type called "characters"

The Title field is the main name used for the character.
There is another field called alias which is set to type text and unlimited values.

What I'd like to do is create a glossary view where the data in both these fields is used and are links back to the original node.
for example

character: Cylcops
Alias: Slim, Mutate #007

Character: Wolverine
Alias: Logan, Weapon X, Patch

View would create a list displayed as :

How to implement a price comparsion ?

How can I import feeds to show different price comparisons for a "parent" node product on the site without making duplicate nodes with similar titles?

"Calendar pad" graphic for Event listings - source?

Still just getting my feet wet with Drupal.

I came across this site (obviously Drupal):

http://www.unc.edu/index.htm

I noticed the little "Calendar pad" graphics showing the month in the blue top area, and the day below it in the bottom of the "pad." Is this a built-in feature of the Calendar module? I am running Drupal 7.7

Thank you!

Confused - build modules or use modules

Hi,

I've been working with Drupal 7 (I'm a newbie though I've been coding for years) and for the last three days I've been trying to get an image slide show to work on my homepage header.

I was able to get it working when I created my views as a page (the image slide works on a separate page/node including the image thumbnails at the bottom) but when I create my image slide views as a block (image slide to be show in a block) the image thumbnails don't work - the slide animation works but the bottom image thumbnails disappear.
