Deprecated - Drupal.org infrastructure

How long does it normally take for a new contributor account to be processed? I requested one nearly a week ago and still haven't had anything land in my inbox since the automail at the time when I clicked submit that simply acknowledges receipt.

Not exactly sure the best place to post this.

I realize the CVS version is not nessesarily stable, but I thought I would point out something I've found in many of the CVS modules.

every so often when a call is made to db_query() the table name is not placed within {brackets} wich will work fine as long as your drupal setup is not prefixed.

i.e. function _ef_ss_remove_old_events() from eventfinder.module

$sql = "DELETE FROM ef_ss_node WHERE begin < %d";
db_query($sql, time());

should be...

The 'Drupal Talk' block seems to have been missing from drupal.org for a while. Previously I've assumed that the throttle mechanism has temporaily disabled it when site has been busy, but it seems to have been misising from tghe front page for several days now (including when I'd expect the site not to be busy - like now).

I take the advice from Sepeck and start a new thread on "What should go on the front page".

I would like drupal.org to sell Drupal to new - non tech - users, who do not know this stuff already.
drupal.org is the first point of contact and should be put to the best use possible.

So we need some STRONG selling points up front. I have a few ideas that I posted in another thread and which I post here as well:

Why install Drupal and not one of the hundreds of other open source CMS packages, Portal systems, Blogging tools etc?

• Because Drupal is a mature system with a very large, active and well functioning developer community.
• Because Drupal is on the fast track in expanding its usefulness for every concievable kind of web2.0 project.
• Because Drupal is so incredibly well integrated.

If you want a system to build on and to outlast your next few wild ideas - install Drupal!

Who are some web-celebrities who use Drupal? And what do they say that can help you make a decision?

What is it that makes Drupal stand out?
This will make it clear that the nukes are techically inferior to Drupal, that some other systems are too hard to learn and manage, that some other systems are much more shallow in scope, that some other systems are developed by teams of one etc..)

I've noticed that this site is getting very slow again lately. Some page loads are taking as long as 30 seconds. Are others experiencing the same?

This is an important issue to address. I like to help out where I can but if the site becomes aggravating to use, I will be much less inclined to do so.
