As part of the Documentation email discussion list I'm signed up for, I just received a Mailmain email reminding me that I'm subscribed. The reminder included my password in the email.
I really don't like this. Eventhough it's a low security password, I don't like having it laying around in my email folders. It feels like poor security to be sending people passwords in emails when they didn't request it.
It is my impression that manpower and especially server load concerns affects which tools we have available here at drupal.org. This may be mostly linked to the economical situation.
Communitywise (regarding efficient networking and follow-up on issues), this has counterproductive consequences.
I think that drupal.org could benefit a lot from putting more efforts into getting more financing for higher capacity (and hence paid support "roles" etc.) for running this community more flexibly.
[rant]The forced preview on everything that is posted to drupal.org is making me a nutcase. Sometimes I don't even bother to post or forget to continue a post if I am busy. If I am answering a question quickly that person will not get my post because it is still sitting in preview while I go on to something else. I then close the browser window and the post and though are lost.
Apart from several (good) reasons of less importance for this post, it strikes me as not very "opensourceish" to require any unnecessary information from anyone. It is a nice principle to let people contribute information, not require it.
Is the user's country information so important to the functionality of this community, that it is worth the "risk" of cases like mine? I simply skip adding/updating my interests and other profile information. From my logic, that seems like a bad exchange for drupal.org.
