Annotations don't seem to work for me

Hello all

I'm a recent convert to drupal, and one feature I want to use is annotations. However, although I can add annotation nodes, they don't show up as either superscripts or icons. My settings:

Modules:
personal blog entry
book page
discussion forum
site page
story

Annotation indicator: icon
Annotation icon: misc/annotation.gif
Match type: any substring
case sensitive: case insensitive
minimum number of words: 0

How to notice the URL is HTTPS?

Hi,
apparently even if I host my drupal site as "https:....." path_uri in includes/common.inc will still make it as "http:....".

I have patched path_uri to make it recognize https, but I am not sure if this is going to affect other modules.

Is there a better way to get this done?

Here is the patched path_uri I did:

4.1 Template docs?

Hi, I'm a newbie to Drupal, and I'm trying to modify a current them to do what I want. The documentation seems to be outdated. My current issues are?

WHen creating the template all the ones I've seen start
class Theme_name extends BaseTheme {

Which is ok, but I have no idea what base theme does. I modified a exisitng theme but there are all sorts of things in the final theme I don't want but don't know how to get rid of.

Drupal for education site

I am currently evaluating software for use as a part of website for parents and children engaged in home-schooling via a charter school. Right now I'm a "Drupal outsider" so I have a few questions about whether Drupal is appropriate to the task at hand.

Here's a list of features I'm looking for in a CMS to drive the site:

1 - News posting and commenting facility
2 - Discussion forums
3 - UI flexibility
4 - Active developer and user communities
5 - Flexible authentication (probably will need LDAP support)
6 - Resource ranking system
---
The last item bears a bit of explanation. One of the primary functions of the website is to give parents and students the ability to post, review, rank and search for curriculum resources online. These resources will need to be categorized by both general type (college course, textbook, parent-led group, etc.) and by age appropriateness.

The goals of the site are as follows:

1 - Allow members to post, review, rank and search for curriculum resources

2 - Provide a forum where parents and students can share news, ideas and experiences

3 - Provide mostly static content about the charter school

The site is NOT intended to facilitate any web-based course delivery like Blackboard or WebCT or any other equivalent product.

amazone/shop module help requested.

hi

i run the amazon module on my site and in the drupal 4.0 it used to be so that if one chooses a node to read, the amazone module would present a list of related books on the right.

since my upgrade to drupal 4.1 (and downloading new modules and reinstalling them) this is not available any more.

i tried different seetings in the admin module, but i am not able to find the right dropdown menu.. yes, stupid me. i know, but any hint would be appriciated.
