help in getting started: uploading conf.php file (error in syntax)

i am a newbie to all this and learning...

that said, i am following directions on getting started from drupal.opensourcehost.com

i made changes to the conf.php file (under "includes" folder) by putting my info into the following:

$ db_url = "mysql://oshusername_username:password@localhost/oshusername_drupal"; #

in the notepad file and saved the changes under the file menu command.

i uploaded conf.php and i got the following error message from the database admin:

SQL-query :

flexible markup permissions for different user groups

Is there a way to configure different markup permissions for different users? For example, I'd like to be fairly restrictive about html tags allowed for content submitted by users, but when I publish new content I'd like the maximum level of flexibility for publishing content, laying out pages, etc. Is there a standard approach that will allow me to do that?

Thanks,

Mac

Using Taxonomy for site development

I'm still working on the concept of Taxonomy and how I can apply it to my site. I publish an online magazine, and I'd like my content to be organized by issues, with sections in each issue and stories under each section. I was thinking about creating the following taxonomy to help organize my content:

Can a link index be created?

Hi,

I am looking at cms solutions for the future. I have reviewed many of the sites that are using drupal and loved what some people have done. Many of them did not look like the average cms site. You know, boxes down the side with the same links as every other cms site. It was refreshing.

What I am looking to find out is whether this cms can produce a yahoo type of link index. Is there link checking and validation, etc.? I would like to create a portal of sorts first and then get the community portion going later.

How to retrieve strings for Translation

I easily got lost during my searches in the whole site for a complete and exhausting tutorial about translation. Actually I get lost when I try to retrieve string to be translated. I see either localegettext and locale do load only a few of the strings of the site. For example all the module' strings are not loaded except the one for locale module itself. With "module" I mean both active and nonactive modules.
I think we would need to put more attention on and to ease the visitor seek for the translation's howto and files.
Cheers
