This one has got me beat and my hosting company (purple paw) are not being very helpful so far.
Drupal 4.6.5
Apache 1.3.34 (unix)
PHP 4.4.0
MySQL 4.0.25 standard
I had my first drupal installation working fine for the last couple of months, no problems - happy days.
It was a test site that I was preparing for a client to have a look at.
When I went to log in as admin the other day I was refused, tried logging in a different user, also denied.
Tried from firefox and IE, same problem.
Also tried from a different computer, same problem.
In desparation I deleted the database, downloaded a fresh copy of drupal, recreated the database and installed the new drupal directory onto my hosting company's server, sure that this would solve the problem.
Went to create the first admin account but hit the exact same login problem.
The problem is:
When I try to create the first admin account I type in my desired username and email address, click 'create new account' and this returns an error of 'The e-mail address A is not valid.'
This is what was happening before I reinstalled drupal too, except the error then would be something like 'The username A is not valid.'
Like I say, this happens on my windows laptop and Apple desktop using different browsers, so my hunch is that it has something to do with my hosting company, but I am not sure what exactly?
Can anyone tell me why the web forms don't seem to be submitting the details entered but send only the character 'A' which I don't enter ???
