Double leading slash in filepath

Problem/Motivation

Nginx is returning 500 Status code when downloading file with xsendfile
I found that there are two leading // in the beginning of the filepath.

Proposed resolution

remove base_path() from file_path

This works for me, not sure if it has any other implications ( eg for apache setup)
