#2277827: Port weight to Drupal 8 - the thinking by @rli and I was to move weight into a standard field that could be used across entities. If you manage to become the maintainer let's talk further about good ideas for porting.

Is patch in #3 still valid? What's going on with porting to Drupal 8? I will need this module for a D8 site I am building right now and may be able to help... It would be nice to have a D8 branch so we collaborate better with development.

I've completed the initial port to Drupal 8. There is a 8.x-3.x branch to work from now.

If anyone is still interested in helping maintain the module. the best way would be to provide/review patches in the issue queue and we can go from there.
