With all seriousness though - no, this is a real module that will have code, releases etc. I can't promise that it can achieve World Peace or eradicate poverty, but I do hope it to become well liked and used.
P.S. the module was, indeed, created just recently and I had not posted full description right away, so I apologize if that created any confusion.
Good point. The photograph currently displayed is from Wikipedia and therefore is safe (Wikipedia only uses copyright-free photographs).
As for the "facts": since Chuck Norris "facts" are mostly folklore, I was thinking to use YouTube approach: only aggregate from public sources and allow people to report on the issue queue if they feel any "fact" is covered by specific intellectual property, in which case it will be removed immediately.
Since this is not a commercial project and our intent is not to harm anybody, I can hardly imagine a serious problem arising.
When I type LMAO, normally I'm not really laughing so hard, probably just a giggle or politely show that something's funny...but reading this project's issue queue, I was really laughing my arse off!
Seriously though... If there will be code and there will really be a "block with random Chuck Norris 'facts'" then there might be some community sites or blog sites who would want this module. Hmm.. I want this in my personal blog!
That is not exact. There are images on Wikipedia that are copyrighted, but they fall under the fair use, and there are images that are copyrighted but used with permission.
A screenshot showing Windows Vista has the following comment, for example:
Microsoft product screen shot, used with permission from Microsoft.
This image is a copyrighted screen shot of a commercially-released computer software product of Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft Corporation has allowed screen shots of its commercially-released computer software products to be used in advertising, documentations, educational materials, videos and web sites as long as they are not obscene or pornographic, are not disparaging, defamatory, or libelous to Microsoft, and are not digitally-altered (except for being cropped).
However, the use of this screenshot in Wikipedia must comply with Wikipedia Non-free Content Criteria policy. Images that do not comply may be nominated for deletion.
The image file is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 Generic license - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Chuck_Norris_(1976).jpg so it can't be used in the module itself. But there is no problem using it in the module page here on d.o, as long as there's attribution, right?

irakli commentedI am sorry but - why? Does it violate any of the drupal.org rules?
silverwing commentedI guess it comes down to this question: Is this an actual module? (Before you edited the page, it looked like a test post/page.)
Or maybe chx just wanted to kick Chuck Norris' ass. (And really, who wouldn't want to?)
kbahey commentedI think chx is concerned that this is a repeat of a previous incident.
Here is the history http://drupal.org/node/709398

killes@www.drop.org commentedOne concern is that the images used might be copyrighted by somebody...

What do you, guys, think?
Thanks

webchickOh, come on. This is hilarious!
It's analogous to the Chuck Norris Hudson Plugin, which I happen to know we have installed on d.o infrastructure. ;) Precedent! ;)
Recommend "won't fix" unless there's an actual complaint here.

chx commentedIf there is an intent to produce code then it's fine.

kbahey commentedSince this is a valid project, there is no need to discuss deleting it.
