The status of the entries in Front Page Schedule - aka - How to get your story on the front page is unclear.

I suggest the following workflow for this page:

  • If you want your post promoted, post an issue in the webmasters queue for frontpage promotion*.
  • A webmaster adds to the schedule.
  • Posts are promoted according to schedule

* association material, new releases etc probably skip this step.

That might help, but mostly what we need here is a team of people to be responsible for making sure this happens.

Right now afaik that team is Amazon.

While individual site maintainers have promoted their own stuff, I don't think anyone is out there following the schedule page / "please promote my post" issues and is following through on them.

If I'm wrong, then please correct me!

#306688: How to post to the front page issue in the docs queue has lots of very good suggestions.

Since this issue deals with improving the process, and the other, on documenting the improved process (+ style guide), I am postponing the doc issue... it's a "post-requisite" to this issue.

@figaro; The webmaster's issue queue is a valid place for "organisational" issues.

This is fixed by the appointment of george (gdemet) as FP maintainer.

I do feel that the process, as outlined on http://drupal.org/node/280488, could still be streamlined, especially now that we have a "Front page promotion" component in this issue queue. I've been thinking for some time about how we can simplify the process, but would like to get feedback from other site maintainers before making any changes.

To that end, I'm going to re-open this ticket and assign it to myself to follow-up with a proposal to streamline the front page promotion process.
