I kept trying to upload a patch file (just a small little text file) to an issue and the upload progress bar just kept going and going. The status bar showed that there were requests pending to 'ehg-adamson.hitbox.com'. I let it go for over 5 minutes and the upload still wouldn't complete. I had to disable JavaScript and the upload worked just fine. Is this something that can be served from the d.org server? I noticed there are a couple people having the same problems at http://drupal.org/node/295462.

Tested with Firefox 3.0.1/Ubuntu 8.04 with no extensions enabled and no firewall enabled.

Interesting. I'm also on Firefox 3.0.1/Ubuntu 8.04 with no extensions/firewall enabled and was just able to post a patch to #304139: Test variable_get, variable_set and variable_del without any issues. I'm not sure what the issue with the 'ehg-adamson.hitbox.com' stuff is about though.

I've been able to do it before no problem. It seems like it is hit and miss, but like that forum post shows, I'm not the only one who's experienced it. I'm going to bump this to minor priority for now.

I think it probably depends on dns and/or connections with the hitbox server which may be very network dependent and there's not a whole lot we can do other than turn the service off. The drawback of these different stats packages is that they can cause problems like this. We need to gather this data at least for a bit longer to help with the drupal.org redesign. After that, perhaps we can turn it off.
