Cannot contact module's owner to port to D8

Problem/Motivation

I cannot contact the creator of a D7 module in order to port it to D8. I've tried it several times and through Drupal contact form, issues page and even gmail.

I've been working on a prototype for a D8 module version for the FPA module. This prototype is pretty usable and has some minor issues, I've been posting the code as a GitHub project https://github.com/HakS/fpa. Now that the prototype is usable, I would like to make it the D8 ported version of this module, however I was trying to contact the creator and main maintainer of FPA module, but I didn't receive any response from the guy who created the module. It has no other maintainers apart from him (it has other minor commiters) so I'm not sure how to proceed with this.

Proposed resolution

I was thinking on creating my own version of the module with another name (like the admin_toolbar module, which is a spiritual successor of admin_menu for D8), but before that I would like to know the best way to go with this case or if there is another approach.
