A discussion on this topic began under issue #244406: Can't move/delete files but I can't find an actual bug for it. It's a fairly significant display problem, and I have to imagine people are running into it regularly. Unless I'm just not seeing the obvious workaround.
Essentially, if a user...
1) has more than one role and
2) doesn't have 'administer webfm' permissions and
3) isn't the #1 user...
... that user will see one folder tree displayed for each role, even if their root folders share a common parent.
I've tried to resolve this by nesting folders and assigning more limited access at the subfolder level, but it makes no difference. The user still sees one tree for each role, each beginning at the root directory for that role.
If there's an easy fix, I'd love to know it.
Thanks!

robmilne commentedThis is by design and not a bug. Tree listings will appear redundant if root directories are nested - no workaround other than reorganizing the directory structure.

rstryker commentedSo, by design, there is no way for someone with two roles (who isn't #1 and who doesn't have 'administer webfm') to see everything within one tree box the way #1 does?

robmilne commentedCorrect. If it is unacceptable you can submit a patch.
