redndahead commentedWithout being able to look at the site I wouldn't be able to help you. I'm sure it's some css quirk somewhere, but I would have to see the site.
gillypots commentedBy using firebug I have found it is relating to the .element style which is adding 8px to my images e.g I have an imagecache preset of 198px height and 198px width that I am using in my slideshow and it is converting the height to 206px which is creating the grey box.
I don't know how to rectify this using css, any ideas.
If you would like to view my site please look at carnoobacards.com/user (I am working in offline mode so to view the slideshows you will have to look at the user page.)
gillypots commentedjust changing the status as my site is almost ready to go live so if at all possible would like this issue resolved asap.
redndahead commentedOnly thing I can think of is trying to set height: 198 in your advanced settings. Without looking at the site not sure what else to do. Also look for any padding that might be added in that area that is giving you an extra 8px. Probably a 4px padding somewhere.
gillypots commentedI have resolved this by going into the internet explorer options and set clear type to false :)
Argus commentedSetting the clear type to false only removes the static transparency bug. During fade effects for example, one still sees semi-transparent parts of a png turning black for the duration of the fade.
Argus commentedadded some pictures that illustrate my point: the center of this polaroid frame is completely transparent. No issue there. But the sellotape and shadow-effects are semi-transparent: here the background-color doesn't appear transparent but grey/black during a fade effect.

redndahead commentedThere is really nothing that I know of that I can fix this. This is a problem with jquery cycle or IE. I would google jquery cycle IE 8 transparency and see what you can come up with. We've been dealing with this for a long time and no one has found a single way that fixes it for everyone. You'll have to try different solutions and see what works for you.
Argus commentedYou are right, this isn't a issue coming from this module. I think this page contains links to most possible solutions. Unfortunately I couldn't get one of them working. No 24-bit png's with transparency over a transparent background in IE6/7/8 for me :(
