I just upgraded to Drupal 8.8. I am on the most recent view slideshow 8.4.6.

I have a slideshow on the front page; however it does not work.

My error:

views_slideshow.js?v=8.8.0:458 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'front_page_slideshow-block_1' of undefined
    at Object.Drupal.viewsSlideshow.action (views_slideshow.js?v=8.8.0:458)
    at HTMLSpanElement.<anonymous> (views_slideshow.js?v=8.8.0:87)
    at HTMLSpanElement.dispatch (jquery.min.js?v=3.4.1:2)
    at HTMLSpanElement.v.handle (jquery.min.js?v=3.4.1:2)

Location: views_slideshow/js/views_slideshow.js?v=8.8.0

  Drupal.viewsSlideshow.action = function (options) {
    ...
    // We use a switch statement here mainly just to limit the type of actions
    // that are available.
    switch (options.action) {
       ....
      case "pause":
      case "play":
      case "nextSlide":
      case "previousSlide":
        // Grab our list of methods.
	var obj = drupalSettings.viewsSlideshow;

        var methods = drupalSettings.viewsSlideshow[options.slideshowID]['methods']; <- undefined

I have tried to create a new view with same slideshow options: doesn't work
I have tried turn off caching: doesn't work
I have tried to check updates, other open bugs: found none.
I am stuck and am wondering if this is a module bug?

solved this issue. my issue was unrelated to view slideshow.

Some javascript files were undefined because of improper closing of html tags. This caused javascript files to break and ultimately makign the variables undefined. I used this form for help:
