Multiple thumbnail pager rows

Hi there,

I apologize if this posting is in the incorrect format; I've been racking my brain for days trying to figure this out.

The goal is to achieve the functionality of the following page using views slideshow: http://www.goboardoftrade.com/storegallery/furniture.php?catid=2

My question is, how can I displaying multiple rows of fields within the view using a slideshow format? i.e. Have an image gallery that has 2-3 rows of thumbnails with a large "slide" of the image on the side?

I've tried using panels and was able to get the same layout using 2 views (grid and slideshow), but the grid obviously wasn't magically linked to the slideshow. The slideshow would happily play through the same images that the grid had, but clicking on the grid would not yield any change in slideshow.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
