I'm looking for a module that will do uploading to Vimeo in the same way you've done here for YouTube. I saw one mention of wanting to create a pluggable infrastructure with Vimeo at the top of your list. My question is whether the module currently is suitable for adding Vimeo as a provider or am I asking for trouble? How far along are you in the process? Asked another way...should I endeavor to build a "provider" or clone the module and convert it for Vimeo?

There's work in progress on abstracting out YouTube. It's almost there.
Since this is not something I'm personally working on, I'm not sure how close it is to realization, but will update this issue as soon as I find out (which should be soon-ish).

I am currently working on completing the abstraction. I have managed to create a sub-module for another provider, which is living side-by-side with YouTube, so I'd say I'm just about there.

If you're familiar with the Vimeo API I could provide you with a working copy (subject to a great deal of revision, of course) to at least start working on.

I'm also interested in making a version for Vimeo. Any news? As I understand, Media Mover module can't upload file directly to the service provider, like this module can using browser upload?

@mshick – I've used the Vimeo API on another occasion and would like to help get this feature developed. If you're able to let me have your work to date I'll push it through.

@bojanz – any thoughts before we finish this off?

I am currently working with mshick on integrating his work into the main version.
The patch that abstracts video providers is nearly done. After it lands, you can work on the Vimeo integration.
(Not advisiable to try not with mshick's code because we are changing the hook names...)

The providers themselves should be separate modules, gives more power to you and less support burden to me.
