Not using alias for URLs?

When I publish a new node and allow the twitter notification to be saved at the same time, the twitter notification sends the URL as the default Drupal path (/node/xxxx) instead of the automatic alias that pathauto's generating for me. While the module works as is, it'd look more polished if the alias was used instead.
