Anonymous User cant verify account

So I have set up the module and put it on the node story type. I can subscribe when logged in or out but when Im logged out and subscribe with my email, I get the email and click the link to verify my account. But it asks me to login to the site. How does an anonymous user subscribe without a drupal account?

Also without verifying my account, would that prevent me from getting emails from new content published in story? I am not getting any mail after publishing content.
