Switches taxonomy terms from one vocabulary to another, and provides a "Classify" tab for editing nodes.

Have you ever come to the exasperating conclusion that one of your taxonomy terms was really put in the wrong vocabulary and you would like to move it into another one? And then realised that there is no way to do this without going deleting and recreating, then going through your site and reclassifying all the nodes attached to the term?

This is what the Taxonomy Switch module is about: it switches taxonomy terms from one vocabulary to another - simple as that.

It also offers you a new "Classify" tab in node view: if you want to reclassify a node without modifying its actual content, then using the "Classify" tab will allow you to do that - the advantage is that you don't get the performance hit (and the wait time) of loading the node content into the browser and then putting it back into the database.

Be sure to read the release notes when you install this module (readme file)

This module only works for Drupal 4.7 and Drupal 5.x.

For Drupal 6.x and above, please see Taxonomy Manager which includes the functionality to move terms from one vocabulary to another in its Drupal 6 and Drupal 7 versions, and the functionality is in progress for Drupal 8.
