Custom task hierarchy

I'd like to make a custom task hierarchy page.

- The project's tasks page would make a good starting point. Could I clone a view from that?
- Alternatively, I could try Views Tree, but I can't find the parent task field. By what field are tasks linked to a parent task?

Background info: I want to work with a single task hierarchy without dividing them into projects and organisations. My plan's to make a dummy organisation and project, and have every task use that. The rest boils down to hiding projects and organisations from the interface. I'm currently trying to make a hierarchical tree view of tasks of a hardcoded project and organisation.
