The development status has been changed in consequence to.
Scald: Video is a Scald provider to host your videos in your drupal site.
Install
- Install Scald
- Enable module (https://drupal.org/documentation/install/modules-themes/modules-7)
- Version 1.x: Install JW Player
- Version 2.x: You can enable one of the provided players, see README.txt files in their directory
Configure
- Configure a context to use the new video player provides, on /admin/structure/scald/video/contexts
- Version 1.x
- Configure the player parameters choosing the JWPlayer preset to use
How to use:
- Create a new video atom
- Choose in the source list:
- Version 1.x: "Video hosted on Drupal"
- Version 2.x: "Upload a video"
- Upload a video file
Known issues
- For the moment, the module is not able to get a thumbnail automatically from the video file. So don't forget to define a thubmnail when creating the atom.
Extend it
You can provide different player by creating scald players module. You can take example on subdirectory players.
Name players by following this logic: scald_video_player_[library_name]
TODO
- Video transcoding: mp4, webm (see https://drupal.org/project/ffmpeg_wrapper & https://drupal.org/project/video)
- Responsive
- Thumbnail: generate a thumbnail automatically from the video file.
Versions
Version 2 is the privileged version: it adds the possibility to have different players for your videos. Two are packaged and you can add new ones by creating a module.
Version 1
This is the JW Player that is used to play the video. This module is not defined as dependency because it will be possible later to use another video player.
Version 2
Features
- Accepted video file formats: .mp4, .webm and .ogv.
- Default player: html5
- Can use different players. Provides 2 players:
- VideoJS (http://www.videojs.com/): html5, flash fallback
- JWPlayer: uses https://www.drupal.org/project/jw_player
