Say you want to create an article that belongs to node/1111

Could we create a node using the following syntax ?

  • node/add/article/belongs_to/1111
  • instead of node/add/article, and having to choose a relation and search for the node to relate to

cool idea. maybe a separate contrib module?

Subscribing! Would love to jump into Relation, but the lack of this feature is what keeps me from making the switch from Entity Reference.

In the meantime, you can use http://drupal.org/project/entityreference with http://drupal.org/project/entityreference_prepopulate. Set up a view that pokes into the references, and you can generate a link with the required node ID to send to the node add form. Works for me so far! But yes, it would be awesome if we could get somethink like this for Relation. Unfortunately I'm nowhere near conversant enough with Drupal coding to be able to start the project. Anybody else interested?

I agree, this is part of what makes Entity Reference so damn useful. It seems there's a version of this in this sandbox module: https://drupal.org/sandbox/bobik/1256164

This would normally be possible with the Prepopulate module. However, at the moment the Relation Select input field is created via javascript, rather than being exposed to the form by default.

Marking as duplicate, since another thread has been created as a feature request for this exact functionality.
