Autocomplete Search using specific fields

When using the autocomplete widget, it appears to only accept searches that match the Entity label. Is it perhaps possible to add multiple fields to search through, in case the label does not contain the text one would search for?

The only way I would think this would be possible, is using a View similar to the Entity Reference module. Thanks in advanced for the feature request consideration and your support.
