Using the 5.x-14 version no matter how many times I click on the X icon to delete a tab, I cannot do so. I have tried it from different browsers to see if it was a browser issue, but no luck.

I am having a similar problem and didn't notice it until after I rolled back jQuery to debug a custom module. Here is my current setup:

quicktabs 5.x-1.4
jQuery 1.2.6
drupal.js v 1.29.2.2
jQuery Update compat.js v 1.1.2.1

After a new quicktab has been created and I am editing the tabs in build/quicktabs/edit/3:

When I click the delete icon, I now just get a grayed out submit with "remove_1" "remove_2" ect. in the "remove" column.

There was a similar issue with 6.x-2.x #336328: Can't delete tabs but I don't remember what part of the code was wrong exactly and what is the fix because it was fixed with a large refactoring patch.. So this might be a bug in the module, but I never tried the 5.x release..

I am sure for 6.x-2.x it was fixed with http://drupal.org/cvs?commit=155107 as I mentioned the problem in #338216-2: separate the admin pages point 16, and point 16 is not listed in #339481: various improvements and fixes ..

The delete problem in 6.x-2.x was different, that commit does not help..

The actual problem here is with the admin form handling. The delete functionality makes incorrect changes in the form. There is a preventive code in place (which is also wrong) to disable the delete button at first change in the form. So, it does not work because the button is disabled if you change the form.

There is one working option how to delete a tab despite of the bugs. Open the quicktab for edit, don't change anything, hit the delete button and save. That seems to work correctly..

I have the same issue. The delete tab button doesn't work when I went back to edit the tabs. So it doesn't allow me to save.
Which means I can't edit the tabs after creating them.
Any fix yet??

I suppose you will have to upgrade to Drupal 6..
