@giorgio79, sorry i cannot help you but I thought I'd report that I just updated with drush and had no problems. I updated only quicktabs for the security update from 3.4-x to 3.6 (drush up quicktabs) no other modules and it seems to have worked fine.

See my issue (previous) - QT broke on update with other module updates (but site is okay). No responses yet. We are using alternative solutions, but would like to get back to QuickTabs.

When the upgrade is run, Quick Tabs module is disabled (as it's recommended way of upgrading 6 to 7).

Quicktabs last update for drupal 7 causes the same case as mentioned here to my page.

I am getting the same error when attempting to upgrade to 7.x-3.6 from 7.x-3.4:

I'm having same error as well. Going from D6 to D7. Any development or work-arounds for this?

#6 was the result of an obscure situation. I was migrating a site to a new platform in Aegir. Quick Tabs had been previously enabled but was not then enabled. Once I uninstalled Quick Tabs, the error ceased during migration. This probably won't help anyone, but I thought I should report back since I posted.

I got the same error and I fixed by adding 2 lines in quicktabs.install after the function quicktabs_update_7303() are shown below :

function quicktabs_update_7303() {

  require_once './'. drupal_get_path('module', 'quicktabs') .'/quicktabs.module';
  require_once './'. drupal_get_path('module', 'ctools') .'/includes/export.inc';

  foreach (quicktabs_load_multiple() as $quicktab) {

Or it should just ignore the updates when the module is disabled as hook_update_X() is even called when module is disabled.
