The INSTALL.txt reads:

"If you set [phpBB3 User Activation] By User, user must to login first to phpBB and after that you will see that he is registered."

This is causing so much trouble for users that want to log in via Drupal. Is there a way to bypass this behavior?

personally i think all that is nutty confusing to even have that as an option. I set up my site so that the user can *only* log in via drupal. I modified the phpbb3 forum links for log in and out to point to the drupal links. and also set up sync only from drupal -> phpbb3. I think letting the user change lots of different information (profile, avatar, signatures) and log in or out from 2 different places is too confusing from a user experience. If its integrated, there should be one source of the truth so to speak.
