mrded commentedWe may need to integrate it with view_unpublished module.
danielb commentedThis module provides all the grants available with the node access system. There are none for unpublished content.
If you want people to be viewing a hidden node then it shouldn't be unpublished, but rather it should be a node to which access is denied. Redesign your workflow.
mrded commentedWhat if you have a group of moderators with possibility to moderate only one content type?
In that case there is no way to allow them to view unpublished nodes of that content.

johnvDrupal offers no Access system for not-puplished content.
You could use 1 content type with a taxonomy field ('tags') on both content type and user, and allow only moderators to access content with a common taxomony term. See modules like Access by Term, and Taxonomy Access Control
You could also use the Workflow module or Workbanch Moderation, which allow you to mainain more stati, ( like 'private, preview, published'), and that allow to only make content in a special status availabe for the (anonymous) user.
