Unique Node Block View Mode Not Possible?

I am using MultiBlock to be able to use the same call to action in a full-width area and in a sidebar area. The full-width area node block has a two column view mode and the sidebar area node block has a stacked/one column view mode.

When I set the node block block's view mode or the MultiBlock instance block's view mode it updates the view mode for both of the blocks.

Therefore I cannot utilize this module in my scenario - I will have to make a separate block with the same exact content just so they can have their relevant view modes set.

Unless I am missing something?

I see on the instances page that the instance has an X under MultiBlock Enabled. Would this have anything to do with my issues?

Is MultiBlock coded in a way which makes it not possible to have a unique node block view mode per instance?
