After following the installation instructions as thouroughly as possible, /admin/logs/memcache reports: "No available statistics for this bin".

/var/log/memcached.log reports: "Failed to write, and not due to blocking: Connection reset by peer"

I couldn't find anything helpful regarding this error message. On Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 "Lenny" I simply can't get memcached to work.

I'm getting this error/behaviour still with D6. So this is not a documentation request for me anymore, but an issue. As such it already exists at #358672: No available statistics for this bin, so marking this as duplicate.
