Enabled memcache yesterday, but then a few hours ago my entire site was down with a WSOD.

I removed the line to enable in settings.php and the site came back.

Could it be a memory issue or something?

I'm a newb, but is there an error log I could check somewhere?

Update: boosted the memory, restarted memcache and seems to be working.

My guess is that removing the Memcache setting just cleared your cache and fixed a different issue. Could you provide some logs from the time of the WSOD?
